In the world of Raj Comics superhero ‘Parmanu‘, the story of “Madam Cold” and “Vriksha” is not the story of any common super-villain. It is the story of a great scientist, Professor Sudish Dora, and his girlfriend Shaili, whose true love was forever ravaged by a terrible laboratory mistake, a heartbreaking misunderstanding and the dark shadow of terrorism.
On one side there was a cold fire of hatred wrapped in the blue shadow of ice, which wanted to freeze the whole world—Madam Cold. On the other hand, there was a helpless demon who had become a slave of his own mind, wrapped in bark and poisonous roots—Vriksha. This is the story of two unlucky lovers who loved each other more than life, but fate made them the biggest enemies of each other and the whole world.
The painful story of Shaili becoming ‘Madam Cold’
Shaili was a simple, beautiful and completely trusting young woman. Her boyfriend, Professor Sudish Dora, was a well-known scientist who was making a special ‘power-suit’ (Power Suit) to protect the human body in extreme cold (-50°C or even lower). To make Sudish’s years of research successful, Shaili herself decided to get into the ‘cooling-cabinet’ of the laboratory wearing that power-suit.
The experiment began and the cabin temperature gradually dropped to -15°C, -30°C and -50°C. Everything was going according to plan, but then a major accident happened. The laboratory’s main control board was horribly short-circuited and the entire panel burned down in the explosion.
Sudish panicked and started screaming to turn off the machines and take Shaili out. But the headphones on Shaili’s ears were frozen with ice, so Sudish’s voice could not reach her. The increasingly deadly cold inside the cabin began to engulf Shaili’s body and nerves. Helpless Shaili felt that Sudish had betrayed her in the name of experimentation and left her to die. This heartbreaking misunderstanding and the cold seeping into her veins erased Shaili’s human form. When the cabin broke, it was not Shaili who emerged from it, but rather—’Madam Cold’. A villain whose heart was burning with the cold fire of hatred for her lover and the world.
Professor Sudish Dora’s transformation into a ‘Vriksha’
Sudish’s life was shattered after Shaili transformed into Madam Cold. He was immersed in the grief of losing his love, but his destruction was yet to come. ‘Danger’, the leader of the international terrorist organization ‘Danger Group’, noticed Sudish’s sharp mind. Danger wanted Sudish to create a ‘mutant drug’ that would turn any human being into a demon of trees and plants.
When the patriotic Sudish refused to be a part of this horrible crime, Danger fitted a microcontroller chip (Micro-chip) into Sudish’s brain. This chip destroyed Sudish’s thinking power and made him a slave of Danger. After this, Danger used the same mutant drug on Sudish himself.
As soon as the drug took effect, Professor Sudish’s human body started changing. His skin turned into the hard bark of a tree, instead of blood in his veins, tree sap started flowing, and strong roots and twigs started coming out of his body. In this way, a great scientist became a monster of roots and twigs called ‘Vriksha’. Due to the chip in his brain, Vriksha started committing crimes against his will, like stealing atomic guns from the Atomic Power Station and attacking superhero Parmanu.
The havoc and powers of both mutants
When these two mutants set out in the city, there was devastation all around.
Madam Cold’s Outbreak: The ice rays from Shaili’s hands would turn flowing water, iron tracks, and humans into lifeless ice statues in minutes. She used to make huge hammers of ice and sharp spears in the air and rain them down on her enemies. Even gun bullets had no effect on her.
Natural strength of Vriksha: On the other hand, Vriksha’s body was like living trees and plants. He would uproot large vehicles and buildings with huge roots and vines that came out of his body. His hands became pointed wooden spears, which could rip anything apart.
Fourth chapter: The painful end of union, truth and fate
The most emotional and exciting twist in the story of these two lovers comes in the comic “Vriksha”. At Danger’s behest, Vriksha was fighting the superhero Parmanu when Madam Cold arrived there to destroy Parmanu.
Years later, seeing his girlfriend Shaili alive but in this terrible form, Vriksha (Professor Sudish) suffers a deep mental shock. This mental shock breaks and destroys Danger’s microcontroller chip in Sudish’s brain. Sudish’s thinking power comes back and he calls out “Shaili!” in his old voice.
When Sudish tells Parmanu and Shaili the truth about Danger’s conspiracy and his helplessness, the ice of hatred for her lover melts in Madam Cold’s heart. Shaili understands that Sudish did not betray her. The two lovers (Vriksha and Madam Cold) then join together to attack the Danger Group and destroy Danger’s entire empire.
Painful ending:
After defeating Danger, when Parmanu asks them to surrender to the law, both of them are filled with tears. The misunderstanding between them had been resolved, but now their human forms had been taken away forever. One had become an ice effigy and the other a tree demon. They could never live together like ordinary humans.
Both of them use their powers before Parmanu’s eyes to disappear forever, towards an unknown world from where it was impossible for them to return to the human world.
