If one names a series in the history of Raj Comics that has offered a tremendous mix of thrills, fears, and emotions, it is surely the pair of ‘Bhujang’ and ‘Blue Corpses(Neeli Laashein)’. In the previous issue, ‘Bhujang’, we saw how Bhujang, a poisonous deity, appears in the forests of Assam and how Bhediya and Kobi come under his influence. ‘Blue Corpses’ is the next and decisive part of the same dreadful story. The magic that Tarun Kumar Wahi’s words and the lines of Dheeraj Verma’s brush have created in this issue is still fresh in the hearts of comics lovers.

Blue orgy of death: When ‘blue corpses’ were scattered in the forests of Assam!

The title of the comics itself is shiver-inducing. The story begins when innocent animals, birds, and humans of the forest suddenly start turning blue and dying. This was not a normal epidemic but the effect of the deadly poison of Bhujang, which had spread in the winds. Bheriya, who is the savior of the forest, trembles at heart when he sees these blue corpses.

Here the author has shown very closely how dangerous the poison of Bhujang is. It does not just kill the body but transforms it into a scary blue color, which is a sign that the balance of nature has completely deteriorated. The biggest challenge now facing Bheriya is to eliminate this invisible enemy (poison) and its source (Bhujang).

Love, sacrifice and two bodies: Jane, Bheriya and the tangled triangle of Kobi!

A very important and emotional aspect of this comics is the character of Jane. Jane loves Bheriya but also cannot deny Kobi’s violent tendencies and her connection to him. This issue shows the mental conflict between Jane, Bheriya, and Kobi in great depth.

Jane comes to understand that Kobi and Bheriya are actually two sides of the same coin. The full strength of Kobi is not possible without Bheriya, and Bheriya is incomplete unless Kobi is with him. Jane’s concern for Kobi and Bheriya’s anger at her take the readers to a different emotional level. Dialogues such as— “An animal can never be matched with a human, Jane!” —show very well the ongoing conflict inside Bheriya.

Bhujang’s last attack: Will the God of Poison be able to conquer Bheriya’s humanity?

Bhujang is the villain of this story who seems almost impossible to defeat. He is not only physically strong, but he also has a magical weapon like ‘Trikunsha’, which can rain poison. Bhujang’s ego is at its peak; he considers himself the creator of the clan’s destiny.

The contest between Bhujang and Bhediya in this issue is not just a contest of strength, but it is a battle between destruction and protection. Bhujang wants the entire forest to bow before his poison power, while Bheriya is ready to save the innocent lives of the forest until his last breath. Bhujang’s character shows that when ego is associated with strength, it results only in destruction.

The return of Kobi and the great sacrifice of Bheriya: a war that shook the soul!

The biggest twist in the story comes when Kobi takes the field again. The fight between Kobi and Bhujang is worth watching. Kobi’s uncontrollable power and Bhujang’s poison give each other tough competition. But the real suspense begins when Jane gets in the middle of this toxic war.

Bhujang’s poison enters Jane’s body and she reaches the verge of becoming a ‘blue corpse’. Here we see Bheriya’s form that makes him a real superhero. Bheriya decides to suck the poison out of Jane’s body without caring for his life. This scene has been portrayed by Dheeraj Verma so effectively that the reader can feel the pain of Bheriya and his sacrifice. Due to sucking the poison, Bheriya himself starts turning blue and comes close to death.

Baba Fujo’s cleverness: When the army of animals eliminated the poison of Bhujang!

While Bheriya and Kobi were fighting with their might, Baba Fujo was using his understanding and knowledge of nature. Baba Fujo knew that only strong water cannons could neutralize the poison of Bhujang. Here the specialty of Raj Comics is visible, where animals are made an important part of the story, not just the background.

Baba Fujo calls a large group of elephants. The strong water cannons used by the elephants to wash away Bhujang’s poison are one of the most memorable scenes in the comics. This part shows how much strength unity has and how nature knows how to defend itself.

Dheeraj Verma’s Artwork: The thrill and suspense emerging on every page!

The review would be incomplete if we did not compliment the work of Dheeraj Verma, as his artwork in this issue really shows its peak. The accurate depiction of ‘blue corpses’ makes them scary as well as gives a mysterious charm, which keeps the reader engaged.

Moreover, the pace of action is fantastic; be it the attacks of Kobi, the fire emanating from the Trikunsha of Bhujang, or the tremendous attack of elephants, each panel of Dheeraj Verma feels full of a different energy. The feelings of the characters are also shown very closely, especially on Bhediya’s face—his concern for Jane and his strong intention to sacrifice himself are clearly visible.

Finally, Sunil Pandey’s coloring has brought life to this whole piece. The choice of colors he has made, especially the ‘blue’ shade that is the main theme of the entire comics, perfectly creates the dark and thrilling mood of the story.

Conclusion: Why is ‘Blue Corpses’ a ‘Must-Read’ for every comics lover?

‘Blue Corpses’ is not just a battle story, but it is a shining example of the confusion of relationships, the extent of sacrifice, and the victory of good over evil. This issue gives a new look to the relationship between Bhediya and Kobi and shows the defeat of a powerful villain like Bhujang in a very satisfying manner. The biggest feature of this comics is its suspense, which keeps the reader engaged till the end. Also, the emotional scenes of Bheriya and Jane touch the heart. In the end, this story also gives a deep message about living in balance with nature and animals.

Final decision:

If you are a fan of Raj Comics and have read ‘Bhujang’, then it is important to read ‘Blue Corpses’. This comics proves why Raj Comics stories from the 90s can give tough competition even to the big graphic novels of today. It’s complete entertainment that leaves you with a good feeling and more respect for Bheriya in the end.

and Kobi face an emotional and action-packed battle for survival. Blue Corpses (Neeli Laashein) is one of the most thrilling Raj Comics stories featuring Bhediya Jane where the terrifying poison god Bhujang spreads death across the forests of Assam while Bhediya
