The second season of Castlevania Nocturne has finally arrived on Netflix. This time it has eight episodes and the story starts from where the first season ended – i.e., at the time of the French Revolution.
Even though Nocturne didn’t become as famous as Adi Shankar’s Castlevania series that came out in 2017, it also has its fans.
This season Richter Belmont, along with his friends, is carrying on the family tradition of hunting vampires. In the first season, we saw Sekhmet, the goddess of war, and this whole season was full of bloodshed and fighting. In the second season, the difficulties for Richter and his teammates increase further. But the good thing is that now they have a vampire to help – Dracula’s son, Alucard.
In fact, fans’ expectations were further boosted by the arrival of Alucard at the end of season 1 into season 2. The makers also took advantage of this enthusiasm from the audience and started the new season with a tremendous scene of Alucard, eliminating some vampires in Egypt.
The real thing is that this battle of Alucard shows what’s going to happen next in season 2. Every fight scene, especially in the last two episodes, is fantastic. The animation is so powerful that you will just keep watching.
However, despite all this, Nocturne was not as successful as the original Castlevania series.
But here we will not criticize the series. We will respond to the curiosity of the audience that often arises – which season to watch first. When some people were watching Castlevania Nocturne, they did not feel any connection to Castlevania in 2017. But everything changed after Alucard appeared in the last episode of Season 1 of Nocturne.
Viewers were quick to search their mobile phones after seeing Alucard, and even those who did not know the 2017 Castlevania were shocked. Everyone started asking each other whether they should have seen the Castlevania of 2017 first, or whether the Nocturne they are seeing now is correct.

So let me now tell you in the right sorted way which season to look at first and which order to proceed.

Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 (2025)

The biggest feature of Castlevania Nocturne Season 2 is its great animation. It’s even better than the first season. Sure, not every frame is like a painting (it’s not Arkane), but the animation did wonders where needed. Like Richter having a power-up in the final episode or Annette going to another world – such moments will make you praise the beauty of this show.
The animation was good in the first season as well, but the second season takes it to a new level. This season’s action scenes are so great that you’ll just want to see more. Especially the last bout, which lasts for two episodes, is the biggest highlight of the season. Maria, Juste, Richter, and Alucard’s encounter with the powerful Erzebet Bathory gives exactly the same thrills as in movies like Avengers.
All this would have been useless if the animations and fight scenes were not good, but thankfully the makers deliberately showed where to pay more attention. Watching Richter and Alucard stab the Vampire Goddess gives the feeling that you won’t be able to move from your seat.
The makers have shown the strength of each character with a special color, which was a very good idea. As such, Richter’s magical strength is always shown in blue, while Alucard’s strength is shown in red.
This use of colors makes the fight scene even more spectacular, especially in the last match. The scenes seem to have been taken directly from an anime such as My Hero Academia or Dragon Ball. Even seeing Richter’s most powerful form, it seems as if he has become a Super Saiyan.

Caslevania: Nocturne Season 1 (2023)

Caslevania: Nocturne may be the new show, but it is the next story in the real Caslevania series. The story takes place 300 years after the earlier show and shows that the world of Caslevania is still very exciting.

The show does not take Trevor and Sayfa’s story forward, but instead focuses on new characters. Some characters don’t even know about Dracula. Still, Nocturne has all the same goodies that made Caslevania one of the best stories made on the game – like great animations and powerful voice acting. Richter Belmont is a completely different and new character from Trevor this season.

Like the real Caslevania, Nocturne also has two special themes – sadness and luck. Richter Belmont is a strong character, and with it many new and interesting characters.

For those who have already seen Caslevania, Nocturne is even more fun. It’s interesting to see how much the world has changed after season 4 and now vampires have also become a part of society. Alucard also returns at the end of the season, making this sequel more closely related to the real series.

Castlevania Season 4 (2021)

Where Castlevania Season 3 was quite different from Season 2, Season 4 takes the story straight from there. Trevor and Sypha try to live a normal life, but when they realize that there are still great dangers left in the world, they return to the same dark world. Castlevania Season 4 begins with flashbacks, which gradually reveal the events and secrets that Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard’s last battle rests on. Big danger this time – Dracula’s return.
In fact, Castlevania’s story has always been about defeating Dracula and then returning, and in Season 4 this thing was very beautifully shown. Dracula and Lisa were living a strange “happy life” in Hell, but many forces wanted to bring them back. The biggest twist was that Death (Death) herself wanted to bring Dracula back.
The different stories that began in Season 3 come together in Season 4, and that’s what makes it better than the previous season. The last episode of the show is extremely satisfying – it has a last battle full of action followed by a passionate ending, which completes the entire journey beautifully.

Castlevania Season 3 (2020)

After a banging end to Season 2, it seemed clear that Castlevania would bring about a Season 3 turnaround. The series started with the story of Dracula taking revenge on humans and the three heroes stopping him. So Dracula’s death was the big turning point of the show. This is why Castlevania Season 3 remained quite different from the first two seasons. Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard looked a little happy and new stories began. As also shown in games, Dracula’s death is never the true end of the story.
However, it took a while for the series to re-set itself after Dracula’s death. Season 3 contained many different stories, which initially do not seem to be intertwined. Trevor and Sypha remained separated from Alucard throughout the season, which was a bit disappointing as their trio looked extremely prolific in Season 2.
Nevertheless, there were also great things in Castlevania Season 3. Characters like Hector and Isaac became even more interesting, and Isaac became perhaps the most interesting character on the show. The story of Infinite Corridor was also funny, and the last two episodes of the season were full of twists and surprises.

Castlevania Season 2 (2018)

Most of the characters had already arrived in Season 1, so Castlevania Season 2 didn’t have to waste time. This time there were not four, but eight episodes, so the show showed all that was glimpsed in the first season – tremendous battles, tons of monsters, and Dracula’s war against humans.
Many interesting characters came to Dracula’s Vampire Council, such as Carmilla. At the same time, Dracula’s Forge Masters – Isaac and Hector – gave more depth to the show and the character of Dracula himself. The entry of these two made Castlevania feel different from the rest of the stories. Hector and Isaac would go on to become the most important characters, but they started here in Season 2.
The trio of Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard were so much fun that it’s hard to remember that they only worked together once throughout the season. The three had such good interaction and chemistry that when they met again in Season 4, it seemed as if they had known each other for years.
Overall, Castlevania Season 2 was very strong. It also had probably the best episode of the whole show – “For Love”. There was constant action in this episode, where Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard confronted Dracula’s teammates. And then came the painful moment, when Alucard had to kill his own father.

Castlevania Season 1 (2017)

In 2023, The Last of Us received rave reviews that it ended the “curse of video game adaptation”. But in fact, 2017’s Castlevania had already shown that even shows based on video games can be awesome if done right. Up to characters, places, monsters, and stories – Netflix’s Castlevania brought a great first season combining many parts of games.
There were a lot of little things in Season 1 that game players could immediately recognize. But it was still equally fun for the new audience as a great fantasy series. With just four episodes, Castlevania Season 1 began to count among the best animated shows of its kind.
Even though there were only four episodes this season, every single 20 minutes, it still managed to tell the whole story. Dracula and Lisa’s sad story was shown very well, and the show made it clear early on how dark and violent it was going to be. Apart from this, Trevor Belmont’s entry scene and his way of showing the character was also amazing.
Even though Castlevania’s most memorable moments were in the season ahead, Season 1 had laid a firm foundation for them.
