Raj Comics’ ‘Nagayan’ series is a very important and memorable milestone in the history of Indian comics. After ‘Selection Scandal (Varan Kand)’, the second part of the series, ‘Eclipse Scandal (Grahan Kand)’, takes the story to a level where not only battles take place, but the ongoing conflict in the hearts and minds of the characters also reaches its peak. Featuring the story by Sanjay Gupta and the brilliant art of Anupam Sinha, this comic brings out the most difficult and emotional phase in the lives of Nagraj, Super Commando Dhruv, and Visarpi. If ‘Selection Scandal (Varan Kand)’ is called the story of “selection,” then ‘Eclipse Scandal (Grahan Kand)’ is the story of the darkness that is going to overshadow relationships, decisions, and the security of the whole world.

Summary and Chapter Analysis of the Plot

‘Eclipse Scandal’ is divided into five main chapters: ‘Marriage,’ ‘Conspiracy,’ ‘Farewell,’ ‘Black Shadow,’ and ‘House Warming.’

Chapter 1: Marriage (The Wedding)
The story starts right where ‘Selection Scandal (Varan Kand)’ ended. In Nagdweep, the native region of snakes, the swayamvar of Visarpi is taking place. The bet is clear—whoever cuts the ‘Nagfun’ with a sword named ‘Gabhira’ will marry Visarpi. But this sword is not an ordinary weapon. It is composed of ‘black matter,’ whose weight is said to be equal to the heaviest things in the universe. Despite possessing full black powers, Cruelpasha, the new form of Nagpasha, fails to lift this sword.

When Nagraj’s turn comes, he not only picks up this heavy sword but also cuts the Nagfun after understanding Dhruv’s strategic gesture. Here, Nagraj’s victory is not just of strength, but of concentration and excellent coordination with Dhruv. However, after this victory, the real confusion begins, as Nagraj is already legally married to Bharti. Visarpi, who loves Nagraj but is torn from within because of his marriage to Bharti, initially refuses to accept the marriage.

Chapter 2: Conspiracy (The Conspiracy)
On the other hand, Nagina and Krurpasha are not people who give up easily. To avenge their defeat in the swayamvar, they hatch a big and dangerous conspiracy. Nagina activates ‘wishful agents’ spread all over the world with the help of her black powers. They know that a total solar eclipse is approaching, and this eclipse will multiply their dark powers. Meanwhile, there is great turmoil in Dhruv’s personal life as well. Natasha and Richa, that is, Black Cat, begin a dangerous and violent confrontation over the custody of Rishi, which adds new tension and emotional weight to the story.

Chapter 3: Farewell (The Farewell)
The farewell scene of Visarpi after the swayamvar is very emotional and heart-touching. Visarpi’s attachment toward her brother Vishank and the entire Nagjati brings tears to the eyes of the readers. The conversation between Nagraj and Visarpi clearly shows their true love and the compulsion of the situation. Both leave Nagdweep and proceed toward ‘Mahanagari,’ the Underground City, knowing very well that the path ahead is not easy, but full of thorns.

Chapter 4: Black Shadows (The Dark Shadow)
This chapter is completely filled with action and superpowers. The solar eclipse has begun, and black powers block the path of Nagraj and Dhruv in the form of ‘Raksha-Triksha,’ demonic trees. During this time, a new and extremely powerful character named ‘Vanaputra’ appears, who is the protector of the forest. Nagraj, Dhruv, and Vanaputra together fight these black forces fiercely. The brilliant use of elemental and energy-based powers shown by Anupam Sinha in this part feels no less impressive than a big Hollywood science-fiction film.

Chapter 5: Home Admission (The Home Entry)
In the final chapter, Visarpi reaches ‘Mahanagar,’ where she encounters Bharti. On one side is Visarpi, the woman whom Nagraj truly loves, and on the other side is Bharti, whom he married for the sake of society and law. Bharti welcoming Visarpi with respect and Visarpi’s entry into the metropolis leaves the story at a crucial juncture, from where the strong foundation of the next part, ‘Abducting Scandal,’ is laid.

Characterization: Valor and Human Emotions

Nagraj: The Embodiment of Sacrifice
In this part, Nagraj is portrayed as a hero who willingly sacrifices his personal happiness for the betterment of the world. His lifting of the ‘Gabhira’ sword is not merely a display of strength, but a symbol of his ability to bear the burden of the entire universe. He deeply loves Visarpi and fulfills his responsibility toward Bharti with complete honesty. This duality makes him a hero who can truly be called ‘Maryada Purushottam.’

Super Commando Dhruv: Companion in Crisis
Dhruv is the brain of the entire story, always thinking of the right strategy in every situation. He understands exactly when Nagraj is emotionally weak and when he needs support. However, during this time, his own home is surrounded by troubles. The ongoing confrontation between Richa and Natasha breaks Dhruv from within, yet he does not step back from his duty. Even while enduring personal pain, he stands firm for his country and friends, which strengthens his character further.

Visarpi: Self-Respect and Dedication
‘Eclipse Scandal’ shows the most growth in the character of Visarpi. She is not just a princess, but a self-respecting woman who refuses to accept the role of a “second wife” under any circumstances. However, when she realizes that Nagraj’s marriage to Bharti is not based on love but on circumstances and compromise, she decides to bow before her love. Her sacrifice, her fear, and her apprehensions about life in the metropolis make her character extremely human and real.

Bharti: A Great Heart
Bharti’s character may not appear for long, but its impact is very deep. She accepts Visarpi not as her step-wife, but as an important part of Nagraj’s life. Her patience, her sense of humor, and her calm nature make her a very respectable and strong character in the entire series.

Nagina and Cruelpasha: The New Dimension of Evil
Cruelpasha transforming into ‘Black Kaal’ creates fear and dread. Nagina’s cunning nature, her conspiracies, and her powers of Tantra-Mantra make it clear that the heroes will never be able to sit peacefully in this story. Together, these two bring evil in a new and far more dangerous form.

Art and Portraiture

In ‘Eclipse Scandal,’ Anupam Sinha’s art emerges as the biggest strength of this comic. His drawings present the grandeur of Nagdweep and the massive, heavy appearance of the ‘Gabhira’ sword in an extremely impressive manner. The facial expressions created by him—be it the pride of the villain, the restlessness of the conspirator, or the unyielding determination of the serpent—emotionally connect the reader to the story.

The deep red color palette and the frightening design of the ‘Raksha-Triksha’ used during the solar eclipse create a mysterious and terrifying atmosphere throughout the comic. At the same time, the action panels showcasing Nagraj’s snake weapons and Dhruv’s agility are so fast-paced and cinematic that the flow of the story never slows down. The close-up scenes during Visarpi’s farewell and her entry into the metropolis bring the characters’ pain and inner conflict directly to the reader’s heart.

Philosophical and Social Aspects

‘Eclipse Scandal’ is not just a superhero comic, but also a deep portrayal of the ongoing conflict between society and human values. Nagraj’s marriage to Bharti symbolizes modern law, while his relationship with Visarpi reflects ancient tradition and emotional bonding. This is the same conflict that can often be seen in today’s society as well.

By portraying the solar eclipse as the rising power of evil, the comic conveys the message that truth and patience are the only forces that support humanity in difficult times. Along with this, the comic strongly highlights women power through characters like Visarpi, Bharti, Natasha, and Richa, where women emerge not merely as supporting characters but as powerful forces that drive the story forward.

Special Attractions: Richa vs Natasha Sub-Plot

The sub-plot between Richa, that is Black Cat, and Natasha in the middle of the story is highly engaging. It is a direct collision of Dhruv’s past and present, with Rishi, Dhruv’s son, becoming the center of this conflict. This part shows that no matter how great a hero is, he cannot escape family conflicts. Natasha’s use of ‘Robo Force’ and Richa risking her life to save Rishi keep the readers in suspense until the very end.

Conclusion of the Review

‘Nagayan: Eclipse Kand’ is a complete and powerful package. It contains mystery, thrill, emotions, and an exceptional level of action. This comic not only lives up to the expectations created by the first part of the series, ‘Varan Kand,’ but also surpasses them in many places.

Positive Side:
The pace of the story is very fast and never allows boredom to set in. The dialogues between the characters are deep, and every line carries meaning. The world-building and the blend of technology with mythology are truly impressive. When it comes to art, the illustration stands at the finest level in the Indian comics industry, with every panel reflecting hard work and imagination.

Downside:
Several sub-plots run simultaneously, which may cause slight confusion for some readers at certain points. However, by the end, all the threads come together smoothly. Some readers may also feel uncomfortable with the storyline surrounding Dhruv and Natasha’s divorce, as they have long been portrayed as a perfect couple.

Last Word:

‘Eclipse Scandal’ clearly proves that Raj Comics’ ‘Nagayan’ series is not just a modern interpretation of the Ramayana, but a saga with its own identity and soul. The story teaches that no matter how deep the darkness or eclipse is, truth and light always find a way to emerge. This comic is a true must-read for readers of all ages.

This powerful story does not end here; in fact, it truly begins from this point. The suspense left at the end of ‘Eclipse Kand’ makes readers extremely curious and eager for the next part, ‘Abduction Kand.’ Salute to the hard work of Anupam Sinha and Sanjay Gupta, who gave Indian readers superheroes like Nagraj and Dhruv—heroes who feel truly our own and are deeply rooted in our culture.
