Professor Nagmani’s full name is Professor Kautilya Nagmani. He claims to be the creator of Nagraj, the only one in the world who can bring an end to Nagraj. Nagmani’s assertion cannot be entirely dismissed because he was the one who hid Nagraj from the world, raising him for his own gains, albeit emphasizing Nagraj’s education and combat skills. In a way, he nurtured him like a son.
Nagmani encountered Nagraj in his infancy while wandering in the jungle in search of venom from extraordinary serpent species. He heard a child’s cry in a deserted temple and realized that an immense quantity of serpent venom existed within the child. Although the temple priest had narrated a chilling tale, Nagmani found more interest in the child than the story. He brought the child with him.
In the laboratory, an examination of the child’s blood revealed the presence of microscopic serpent entities. Over time, the same child grew up to become Nagraj, and Nagmani auctioned him off among terrorists. However, before that, he planted a chip in Nagraj’s mind to prevent him from rebelling. Nevertheless, Baba Gorakhnath freed Nagraj and crafted a powerful weapon against terrorists.
However, Nagmani was not one to admit defeat. He kept a sample of Nagraj’s blood for himself and ventured into the dense jungles of China, home to the Nagmanavas. There, he offered Nagraj’s blood to Feng, the most venomous person in the tribe, hoping to make him drink Nagraj’s blood. Upon doing so, Feng acquired Nagraj’s skin, and his memory was wiped, believing that Nagmani was his creator.
Nagmani is a crucial character in the Nagrahaj comics, often depicted as injured or seemingly deceased in one issue only to be resurrected or shown alive in the next. In the “Ichchhadhari Nagraj” series, when Nagnand cuts Nagmani’s head, and Nagraj captures Nagdant, everyone assumes Nagmani is dead. However, in the next installment, he is revealed to be alive in the “Nagina Ka Jaal” comics, where it is explained that King Cobra saved his life and now he is involved in the narcotics trade.
In the “Jahar” comics, Nagmani nearly succeeds in trapping Nagraj in his deadly scheme. However, due to Nagina’s intervention, Nagraj survives, and Nagmani is forced to flee. Nagmani not only produces venom but also commands several snakes that obey his orders, as seen in the “Snake Park” comics.
One of Nagmani’s greatest strengths is his knowledge, and perhaps that’s why even the formidable crime lord, “Crime King,” listens to him. In the “Narknashak Nagraj” series, Nagmani narrates another story, revealing a different facet of his character while discussing his wife.
