‘Super Power Vikrant’ is a powerful and interesting offering from ‘Pawan Comics’. This story is about a hero whose roots lie in ancient Indian sciences and spiritual powers. This comic is not just about fights, but it shows the everlasting struggle between morality and greed.

Summary and plot of the story

The story begins in the princely state of Rajgarh, where a scholar named Vidyadhar lived. He was an expert in Tantra-Mantra and Yoga. He had a very calm nature and wanted to retire away from worldly things. But destiny had written something else for him. Under parental pressure, they married, but had no children for 15 years. Finally, they leave everything and go to Maharishi Atmanand’s ashram.

Maharishi Atmanand had predicted that Vidyadhar’s wife would give birth to a son, but she would die with the birth of the child. This prediction came true, and the child ‘Vikrant’ was born. Vikrant was brought up in the quiet and spiritual atmosphere of the ashram. Since childhood, he was calm and very smart.

The story takes a turn when Vidyadhar’s old friend ‘Kripashankar’ comes to the ashram. He was very troubled due to losses and debts in business. To help, Vidyadhar takes him to the hidden caves of the Himalayas, where there was a treasure of an ancient Tantrik named ‘Kalatantra’. This treasure contained not just gold and silver, but three wonderful things: a magical sword, a divine ring, and a mysterious book.

This is where the ‘betrayal’ part of the story begins. Seeing the treasures and powers, Kripashankar becomes greedy. He feels that if he kills Vidyadhar, he can become the most powerful and richest person in the world. In a brutal act, Kripashankar beheads his closest friend Vidyadhar with the same magical sword.

After Vidyadhar’s death, his soul comes before his son Vikrant and tells him the whole truth. Vikrant, who was till now an ordinary youth, is determined to take revenge on his father’s murderer and stop the misuse of powers. He achieves those miraculous things and is born as ‘Super Power Vikrant’. The story ends at an exciting juncture, where Vikrant reaches Delhi and confronts Kripashankar (who has now become a powerful Tantrik), but Kripashankar escapes with the help of his magical slave ‘Mudrak’.

Characterization

Vikrant (Nayak): Vikrant’s development is very accurate. He is not just powerful, but a wise and thinking hero. His powers are the result of his father’s penance and ancient learning. His look (white-purple suit, ‘V’ sign on chest, and cape) is like that of a modern superhero, but his nature is as calm and serious as Rishi Kumar.

Vidyadhar (symbol of idealism): Vidyadhar is an example of sacrifice and selfless friendship. The one they trusted the most betrayed him. His death brings emotional depth to the story and makes the reader feel sympathy for Vikrant.

Kripashankar (Villain): Kripashankar is a classic villain. Blinded by greed, he forgets the sacred relationships of friendship. He is not just a criminal, but a symbol of the misuse of powers. He goes from a desperate businessman to an evil occultist.

Printer (magical slave): The printer is like Aladdin’s genie, but more serious and obedient. It is a tool of power, serving the one who holds the ring.

Art and portraiture

The depiction by ‘Chemio Arts’ is fantastic. The peaceful beauty of the Himalayas is shown in blue-white colors, and the mystery of the Tantric caves in dark colors. Vikrant’s flying and fencing scenes are very impressive. Especially the depiction of Vidyadhar’s murder on page 20 is so dramatic as to create hatred for the villain. Special attention has also been paid to the physical appearance of the characters, due to which Vikrant emerges as a strong and well-built hero.

Theme and Message

This comic gives many deep messages. It shows the importance of ‘karma and destiny’, that is, a person cannot run away from the deeds he has done. While Vidyadhar’s sacrifice was his destiny, it is Vikrant’s responsibility to protect dharma. The ‘destructive form of greed’ is clearly visible from the fall of Kripashankar. It tells us that ill-gotten wealth and power never bring lasting happiness. Finally, the story shows the battle of ‘spiritual power versus material power’—where the power of truth, stemming from Vikrant’s cultivation and purity, wins against Kripashankar, who is made of theft and violence.

Critical Analysis

The biggest strength of this comic is its strong ‘origin story’ and the connection of the hero’s powers with Tantra-Mantra. It is very attractive for Indian readers. Also, the villain’s clear purpose maintains the adventure and duality in the story. Still, there are some drawbacks—such as Vikrant suddenly appearing in superhero costumes due to the fast pace of the story, and not seeing the powers of magical things developing fully. These things could have been shown a little more.

Conclusion

“Super Power Vikrant” is not just a children’s entertainment comic, but it is also a moral story. It teaches that with power comes responsibility. This comic is a complete package under the editorship of Devki Nandan Sharma. It takes readers into a world where magic, adventure, and emotions coexist.

After reading this first part, many questions remain in the minds of readers: Will Vikrant be able to take revenge on his father’s murderer? What will be Kripashankar’s next move? Readers eagerly wait for its next part, “Vikrant and Kalatantra Ka Pujari”, to know the answers to these questions.

If you love Indian classic comics and want to read a story that is rooted in our culture, ‘Super Power Vikrant’ is a great option. This is a precious gem of Indian comics which every comic lover must read at least once.
