Analysis of Story: When the Past Attacked the Future
The beginning of the story is like a scene from an explosive film. A huge icy body suddenly appears on the busy road of the modern city of Rajan Nagar, causing a traffic jam. People are surprised as to what happened. The mystery deepens when the ice mass explodes like a time bomb, and a very beautiful woman, Lohangi, emerges from it. She is completely ignorant of the present time and place. She doesn’t even know a common word like ‘traffic’. This scene immediately arouses curiosity in the minds of the readers. Lohangi reveals a flying cot with her tantra-force and leaves to find Yoddha.

As soon as Lohangi leaves, an atmosphere of anarchy is created in the city. A motorcycle gang called ‘Balwa’ starts terrorizing the entire city. They attack innocent people and create an orgy of death. The scene creates the setting for the protagonist’s entrance into the story. And then, comes our hero on stage — Yoddha.
Yoddha’s entry is extremely impressive. He looks like an ancient warrior, with long hair and a strong body. He confronts the ‘Balwa’ gang armed with modern weapons with his ancient bow and arrow and a mysterious shield named ‘Dhakamandhan’. When the gang leader ‘Danga’ shoots bullets at Yoddha with his sten gun, the warrior bears them on his shield as if they were flowers. This scene establishes the immense power of the hero.
A new twist in the story comes when another powerful female character named Shambari arrives to help Yoddha. Yoddha and Shambari recognize each other, revealing that they are both connected to the same past. From here, the story goes into a flashback, where Shambari narrates her ordeal. She tells how, after a cataclysm, she fainted and was saved by an ascetic named Bhabhootdev.

It is in the flashbacks that we discover Yoddha‘s past. Yoddha‘s real name is Taparaj, and his brother’s name was Tapobali. Someone had murdered Tapobali, and Bhabhootdev told Taparaj that he would have to go five thousand years into the future to take revenge on his brother’s murderer. This flashback gives emotional depth to the story and provides a purpose to Yoddha‘s actions.
Returning to the present, Yoddha and Shambari together wipe out the ‘Balwa’ gang. The story progresses and reveals that this gang is only a pawn and that some big conspirator is behind it. The story ends in a thrilling twist, where Yoddha and Shambari encounter a mysterious metal-made creature, and Bhabhootdev makes another revelation. This ending makes readers eagerly wait for the next issue.
Characterization: Ancient Heroes and Modern Villains
Yoddha (Apatraj): Yoddha symbolizes a classic hero — powerful, just, and courageous. He is a warrior of the past who is trapped in the modern world, but his moral strength is unshakable. His main objective is to avenge his brother’s death. He relies on his physical strength and pristine fighting skills, which make him invulnerable even in the face of sten guns and bombs.
Shambari and Lohangi: The female characters in this comic are not just for decoration. Lohangi’s mysterious presence opens the story, while Shambari accompanies Yoddha as a capable and powerful fighter. She is not a helpless person in trouble, but an equal partner.

Villains: The villains of this issue, especially ‘Danga’ and his ‘Balwa’ gang, seem a bit traditional. They are cruel and violent, but they lack depth. However, the story ends with a glimpse of a larger and more mysterious villain, who promises to pose a major challenge in future issues.
Art and Presentation: The Identity of Raj Comics
The art style of “Aakraman” is the unique identity of 90s Raj Comics. The drawings are very dynamic, and the action scenes are painted very effectively. Energy and speed are realized in every panel. The use of colors is bright and attractive, which gives a vibrant look to the comic. The use of sound effects (like ‘Dhamak’, ‘Kadak’, ‘Tad-Tad’) in Hindi makes the action scenes even more fun. The facial expressions and body language of the characters are also depicted well.
