Yoga Tulsi Comics Review: A Spiritual Revenge Saga by Ved Prakash Sharma
Yoga stands as a symbol of how pain, discipline, and spiritual strength transform an ordinary boy into Tulsi Comics’ most haunting warrior of justice.

In the golden era of Tulsi Comics, ‘Yoga’ emerged as a character who made not only physical strength but also spiritual strength, i.e., yoga, his biggest weapon. Ved Prakash Sharma, who is famous for his mysterious and thrilling stories, has presented the journey of a common child from ‘zero to hero’ in a very emotional and exciting manner through this comic. ‘The Yoga story’ is not just an action comic, but it is a long and deep journey of pain, breakdown, revenge, and the search for justice.

Extending the Plot

The story begins with ‘Yogiraj’, who is a great master of yoga and is preparing a special battalion of warriors proficient in yoga for the Indian Army. He is accompanied by a mysterious disciple—Yoga. The powers of Yoga are extraordinary. He can create thousands of bodies at once and can move anywhere through his subtle body. But the question is: who is Yoga? What is his past? The story of the entire comic revolves around these questions.

Yoga’s real name was Shagun. He was a very ordinary teenager who had only two hobbies: watching action movies and learning martial arts. The story takes a sudden turn when one day his school bus is hijacked by a criminal named ‘Tinkora’ along with his gang. Tinkora actually wanted information from Shagun’s father, Professor Vikram, about a secret ‘Blue Umbrella’.

It is from here that the story reaches a very dark and painful turn. Tinkora takes Shagun and his parents captive and inhumanely tortures them. Shagun tries to run away using his filmy intelligence and courage, but he proves helpless in the face of Tinkora’s cruelty. The criminals not only brutally murder his parents but also set their house on fire. Shagun somehow escapes through a tunnel to save his life, but he is left behind with the ashes of his parents and the fire of revenge burning in his heart.

A unique weapon: ‘Justice’

The most shocking and perhaps the scariest thing about this comic is the way Shagun takes revenge. He collects the bones of his parents and makes a weapon from them—a heavy weapon like a mace, which he names ‘Justice’. The thought that a hero is walking around carrying a weapon made of his own parents’ bones gives the story a different level of seriousness and gravity. This clearly shows how deep Shagun’s pain and anger are.

From physical training to spiritual knowledge

Shagun first goes to Boga, the coach of martial arts. There, he makes his body so strong that his strength reaches its peak. He rips apart Tinkora’s entire crime empire, and the corrupt Inspector Chogle gets his punishment as well. But when he encounters the real villain ‘Bhayank’, he realizes that just a strong body and weapons are not enough. Bhayank is a Tantrik and also an expert in the powers of yoga. He defeats Shagun very easily.

This is where a different divine twist comes into the story. A mysterious Mahatma explains to Shagun that if he has to defeat Bhayank, he must learn ‘Yoga Vidya’. After this, Shagun’s journey begins towards Yogiraj’s ashram, where he is reborn in the form of ‘Yoga’ after years of rigorous penance and meditation.

Characterization

Shagun/Yoga: The character of Shagun has been developed very deeply. The author has shown, in a very careful manner, the journey from a playful and dreaming boy to a broken, revenge-driven person and then to a calm but extremely powerful yoga warrior. His helplessness touches the reader’s heart, and his victory inspires.

Yogiraj: Yogiraj is not only a guide but also a fatherly personality. His character shows how important it is to have the right balance between strength and discipline.

Tinkora and the Fierce: Tinkora is a common type of criminal, but the Fierce is a different level of villain. Her presence creates a mysterious, supernatural, and fear-inducing atmosphere in the story.

Writing and Dialogue

The effect of Ved Prakash Sharma’s writing is clearly visible here. His dialogues are full of ‘pulp’ flavor. Like—
“Showing off with a weapon in front of the unarmed… If you are a real man, throw away the weapon and fight hand to hand.”

Dialogues like this are directly reminiscent of action films from the 90s. The pace of the story remains fast from beginning to end and does not slacken anywhere. As soon as each page ends, the reader is automatically forced to turn to the next page.

Art and Portraiture

The Tulsi Comics illustrator (possibly Pradeep Sathe or any other artist of that era) has depicted every scene with full heart.
Martial arts battles and ‘Justice’ weapon attacks are shown with great energy and speed.

Shagun crying while sitting near his parents’ funeral pyre or collecting their ashes—these are scenes that say a lot even without any dialogue. The use of bright colors in comics was the hallmark of that period, but the selection of colors during dark scenes and tantric activities is completely successful in creating mystery and fear in the atmosphere.

Social and Psychological Aspects

This comic also indirectly reveals the failure of the system. When Shagun goes to the Police Commissioner, he is advised not justice, but compromise and patience. This helplessness gradually pushes him onto the path of taking the law into his own hands. Making a weapon from his parents’ bones shows his deep mental trauma. He does not want to separate his parents from himself, so he always keeps them with him in the form of his weapon.

‘Sum’ Importance

A major objective of this comic also seems to be to show the power and importance of yoga. Even though yoga is presented here as a superpower, the message is quite clear—the strength of the mind and soul is much greater than just the strength of the body.

Conclusion

The ‘Yoga’ story is a classic revenge story combined with Indian culture and spiritual thinking. After this detailed review of about 1300 words, it would not be wrong to say that this comic is one of the most important and memorable creations in the history of Tulsi Comics.

This story teaches us that:

It is important to stand against injustice. Physical strength alone is not enough; mental concentration and knowledge are equally important. The fire of revenge can ruin a person, but if it gets the right direction, i.e., yoga, then the same fire can become ‘Justice’.

If you are fond of old-fashioned comics, the ‘Yoga’ story is no less than a treasure for you. It does not just provide thrills but introduces a hero who is deeply connected to his roots and culture. The next part of this, ‘Yoga Ka Intkam’, has a strong foundation, which these comics lay in a very effective way.
