Raj Comics has a special character, ‘Wolf.’ He is different from the rest of the superheroes; his strength is not just physical, but his personality is deeply woven into human emotions, folk tales, and the culture of the mysterious forests of Assam.

The comic ‘Bhujang’ is a big story in this series, which takes the reader to a point of adventure where tantra-mantra, old traditions, and demonic forces come face to face. Tarun Kumar Wahi’s writing and Dheeraj Verma’s excellent illustrations have made it special in the history of Indian comics. This review will explain the aspects of ‘Bhujang’ that make it a masterpiece.

Fear of Assam forests: Where ‘poison’ rules, not humans!

The beginning of the story takes us to the remote and inaccessible forests of Assam, where ‘strength,’ not law, rules. Initially, there is a bloody conflict over a deer between two hunter-gatherer groups. But this is not a common fight. A different form of ‘wild justice’ is visible here. The author has beautifully shown that victory in the jungle belongs only to the one who has more violence and strength.

Meanwhile, the hero ‘Wolf’ arrives. He sees some hunters biting their enemies with their teeth, and foam starts coming out of the mouth of the prey as soon as they bite. Wolf is surprised because this is not normal human behavior. Here comes ‘Baba Fujo,’ who is the master of Wolf and an expert on the secrets of the forest. Baba Fujo tells Wolf about the ‘Garla clan’, a clan that has been hidden from the world for centuries and where poison is the basis of life.

Blue monster or poisonous god? Those forces of Bhujang which made the entire tribe tremble!

The main character of the comic ‘Bhujang’ is the most powerful and terrifying center of the story. Bhujang is not an ordinary human being, but is considered the god and protector of the Garla clan. He is depicted as a blue giant monster, possessing a divine scepter. Bhujang comes to earth every five years, and his arrival brings both joy and fear to the clan.

Bhujang has an arrogant and cruel personality. As soon as he arrives, he snatches away the ‘poison power’ from the old Sardar. It is so painful that the old chieftain dies in agony. Bhujang believes that power should remain only with those who deserve it. His dialogue, “I have come again to give poison power,” creates new violence and competition in the clan. Bhujang shows how superstition and greed for power can make humans worse than animals.

‘Serpent art’ and bloody teeth: When the hunting method itself became the biggest fear!

The imagination of the ‘Garla clan’ conceived by writer Tarun Kumar Wahi is amazing. This clan lives with poison. They eat the sauce of poisonous leaves, sleep on beds of snakes, and let scorpions crawl over their bodies so that their blood becomes completely poisonous. Their art of warfare has been called ‘Sarp art.’

Warriors who are experts in this art use their teeth to attack like snakes. Once they bite someone, the poison goes straight into the bloodstream and death is certain. The comic details the clan’s life in such depth that the reader begins to feel that toxic environment himself. It adds such a touch of horror and mystery to the story that makes the reader keep turning the pages.

‘Kobi’ came out after tearing the spell: Will this violent warrior be able to break Bhujang’s ego?

The real thrill of the story comes when another form of Wolf, ‘Kobi,’ arrives. Kobi, who was trapped in the tilism, emerges from below the ground with a loud explosion. Kobi is completely different from Wolf—he is violent, careless, and does not bow before anyone.

Kobi finds himself in the toxic area of the Garla clan. He has shortness of breath, but instead of giving up, he takes a hunter’s toxin-proof mask. The face-to-face confrontation between Kobi and Bhujang is the most exciting part of the comic. Bhujang considers himself a deity, and Kobi challenges him as an ordinary enemy. The battle between these two superpowers takes the story to the next level.

Dheeraj Verma’s Magic: The Art That Made ‘Bhujang’ a Visual Masterpiece!

If ‘Bhujang’ is still remembered, then a lot of credit for it goes to the artwork of Dheeraj Verma. His art has depth and a ‘muscular’ texture that brings the characters to life. Bhujang’s blue complexion, body shape, and his cruel facial expressions make him a memorable villain. The pacing (fluidity) in Kobi and Bhediya’s action scenes is so great that it feels like a movie is playing. The blood scattered on the pages and the pain seen on the faces of the warriors are the identity of Dheeraj Verma’s art style. Background detailing is also fantastic—the dense forests of Assam, poisonous smoke, and clan masks—all are crafted very carefully. Also, Sunil Pandey’s color combination fully supports the scary and mysterious atmosphere of the story.

Final Verdict: Is ‘Bhujang’ really the best comic of the Bhediya series?

At the end of the review, it can be said that ‘Bhujang’ is not just a comic, but a great example of imagination. This story shows that there are many mysteries in nature that are beyond human understanding. Among its strengths is the strong screenplay, which never bores, and there is new suspense on every page. Its world-building (World Building) with the concept of the Garla clan and serpent art is very unique. The characters’ development is also shown in the best way through the contrast between Wolf’s anxiety and Kobi’s fearlessness.

If there is any flaw to be mentioned, then perhaps the story ends with a big ‘cliffhanger,’ due to which many questions remain in the mind of the reader. The answers to these questions are found in the next comic, ‘Blue Zombies.’

Conclusion:

‘Bhujang’ is an essential comic for all fans of Raj Comics. It not only entertains, but also reminds us of a period when there was depth in stories and life in pictures. If you want to start the Wolf series, ‘Bhujang’ is the best option.
