If you are fond of comics and have grown up reading Super Commando Dhruv or Nagraj comics in your childhood, then ‘Nagayan’ is not just a comic for you, but a feeling. ‘Nagayan’ is considered to be the biggest and most ambitious project in the history of Raj Comics. This entire series is based on the theme of the Ramayana, but our own superheroes have been added to it in such a way that it gives goosebumps.

The first part of this series (first volume) laid a strong foundation for the story. But this second part—”Rakta Parv”—ye brother, is absolutely poison! The tagline written on the cover of the comic itself: “Idam Yudham Mahat Bhishwati, Na Bhuto Na Bhishwati” (This war will be so great and terrible that it has never happened before and will never happen again), creates the atmosphere of this entire comic.

Come on, now without any delay, let us do a post-mortem of this comic page by page and understand why ‘Rakta Parv’ is creating a different atmosphere in the hearts of comic lovers.

The fabric of the story (Plotline): where rivers of blood flow

The very name ‘Rakta Parv’ clearly shows that it is useless to expect peace here. In this section, the story has completely entered the battlefield. If we talk about its plot, it is much inspired by the war incidents of the Ramayana, but the twists and turns put into it seem completely new.

Jugalbandi of Nagraj (Ram) and Dhruv (Lakshman)

In the story, Nagraj plays the role of ‘Ram’ and our beloved Super Commando Dhruv is playing the character of ‘Lakshman’. The tension and circumstances that were created in the previous part come here and turn directly into action. Nagraj’s calm nature, but the force that shakes the whole world when he gets angry, is shown very well in this comic. On the other hand, Dhruv’s mind, his strategy, and his confrontation with big monsters and enemies without any superpowers, just on the basis of his intelligence, take the story to a different level.

Fear of the Villains: Kaaldoot and Nagpasha

The fear of Ravana in the Ramayana and the fear of Nagpasha and the villains associated with him have also been made equally powerful. The tricks of the enemies in ‘Rakta Parv’ are so dangerous that for a moment it seems that our heroes are gone now and then. War is not just being fought with swords or arrows, but superpowers, magical powers, and terrible snake weapons are also being used here.

Suspense and Emotion of War

The biggest feature of this comic is that it doesn’t just show you ‘Dishoom-Dishoom’. There are plenty of emotions in it too. The fear of losing loved ones, the responsibility of saving the country (or rather Naglok/Earth), and that thin line between righteousness and unrighteousness—all these things have been very well woven into the story. While turning every page, the heartbeat increases to see what new crisis is going to come on the next page.

Artwork and Illustration: Eyes Will Be Left Wide Open

Man, to be honest, the life of any comic is its story, but its body is its artwork. And the artwork of ‘Rakta Parv’? Brother, hard! Absolutely next level!

• Visual effects: Looking at how the war scenes have been created, it seems that we are not reading a comic, but sitting in a theater watching a 3D movie. When Nagraj releases millions of snakes from his body, or when Dhruv tricks enemies while performing stunts on his motorcycle, those scenes settle in your mind forever.

• Color palette: Because the segment is called ‘Blood Feast’, the comic makes great use of red, black, and dark colors. These colors completely strengthen the serious and dark atmosphere of the story. The blood splatter, the burning groups, and the anger or pain that appears on the characters’ faces come to life through the colors.

• Character design: Every character’s dress, their weapons, and their expressions have been worked on very hard. As divine as Nagraj’s look appears, the villains’ looks are equally scary and hair-raising.

Dialogues: Make You Clap and Whistle

It would be unfair not to talk about the dialogues of this comic. A special identity of Raj Comics has always been its powerful and effective dialogues, and this thing is seen at its peak in ‘Rakta Parv’.

The use of Sanskrit verses (as written on the cover itself) gives a mythological and serious atmosphere to the story. When Nagraj roars, the dignity of a king and the anger of a warrior are clearly visible in his dialogues. Dhruv’s dialogues are as wise, balanced, and enemy-defeating as always.

In some scenes, when there is a war of words between villains and heroes, after reading them I really feel like, I swear, a web series should be made on this! The Hindi used in the dialogues is both pure and easy, so while reading, the reader gets completely immersed in the story.

Comics Scenes That Gave Goosebumps (Key Highlights)

There are many moments throughout the comic that make readers say, ‘Wow!’ Let’s talk about some special scenes:

  1. Beginning of the Great War: When both armies come face to face. That first confrontation, where thousands of soldiers and snakes confront each other, is one of the finest scenes in this comic.
  2. Dhruv’s Tactics: Dhruv does not have any divine powers like Nagraj. But seeing the way he brings the huge enemy army to its knees with his commando training and intelligence, Dhruv’s fans will be proudly amazed.
  3. The Fierce Form of Nagraj: We all know that Nagraj is usually very calm, but when he loses patience, disaster strikes. In this comic, a form of Nagraj is seen that creates fear in the minds of enemies. His anger and snake powers are truly hair-raising.

The Best Things About This Comic

• Strong story: Despite being based on the theme of the Ramayana, the story never seems predictable. There is something that surprises you at every turn.

• Perfect pacing: The story neither moves too slowly nor runs too fast. The battle scenes are given full time so that the reader can enjoy every action to the fullest.

• Nostalgia plus modern tadka: The comic reminds older readers of their childhood while also featuring today’s dark and gritty touch for new readers.

Where Is There Any Stone Left Unturned?

While this comic is a masterpiece in itself, if viewed very closely, some things may be off-putting:

• Crowd of characters: Because it’s a mega-story, it introduces a lot of characters at once. People who are not very familiar with the Raj Comics universe may sometimes have trouble understanding which character is fighting on which side.

• A bit difficult for new readers: If someone has not read the first part of ‘Nagayan’, they may have some trouble understanding ‘Rakta Parv’ directly. This comic wants you to read the entire series from the beginning.

Conclusion: Why Should You Read This?

So brothers, the overall thing is that “Nagayan II Khand – Rakta Parv” is such a gem of the Indian comics world that it should be on the shelf of every comic lover. This is not just a comic, but a great example of the hard work, imagination, and vision of the writers and artists of Raj Comics.

It takes you to a world where the judgment of righteousness and unrighteousness is being written in blood. If you are fond of powerful action, suspense, excellent artwork, and heart-touching dialogues, then ‘Rakta Parv’ is a must-read for you.

If you haven’t read it yet, boss, you’re missing out on a huge part of Indian comics history. Go, find it, buy it, and witness the great war of this ‘Blood Feast’. Because such a war… neither in the past nor in the future!
