Raj Comics’ ‘Bhukampa Olympic’ is such a funny comic that the first question that will come to your mind as soon as you read it is – “Man, what did you see!” and believe me, the answer will be – “Something different!”
This is not a serious type of comic. This is the Laughter Bomb – which explodes directly in a strange but vivacious world called ‘Dharatalpuri’ 10,000 meters below the earth.
These comic creators are absolute legends!

This explosive story is written by Tarun Kumar Vaghi, whose script is so entertaining that it feels like telling a tale among friends sitting at a tea shop. Dilip Chaube not only produced the story but also created the visuals, and along with him, Deepika, Vineet, and Siddharth also contributed to the artistry. Manish Gupta added spice to the editing, while Sanjay Gupta and Vivek Mohan brought in plenty of laughter by acting as ‘humor consultants’. Now, let’s step into the world of the story…

The mystery behind the earthquake – The secret of Dharatalpuri
The comic begins with the major earthquakes that occurred in cities like Latur and Jabalpur. But here, giving a strong blow to the scientists’ theory, a completely different reason is presented – below the Earth’s surface is a phenomenon called ‘Earthquake Olympics’! Yes, yes, you heard it right. Beneath the Earth is a city called Dhratalpur that holds an Olympics every five years, which doesn’t feature a 100-meter race or football; instead, it is a direct ‘Dham-Dham-Ham’ contest! Two wrestlers clash at the Earth’s pillar, and then there’s a thud! An earthquake occurs on the surface! So whenever the ground shakes, you can be sure that below, a macho wrestler has just elbowed his way to victory.
The trio of fly-catching toads

Now let’s add some more life to this crazy story with the Toads – that is, some creatures that live in the gutter and survive by eating mosquitoes. Their names are: Shooter, Computer, and Master. All three speak in a very desi style, and their chemistry is simply amazing. As soon as an earthquake occurs, the gutter shakes, and the walls tremble – there’s a commotion among the three.Computer shouts, “Run outside or the gutter house will collapse, and we will shake along with the earth!”Master says, “Brother, how can we run? We can’t even stand up!”Shooter still thinks, “Okay, I’ll throw each one of you out with an arrow!” Now tell me! Does anyone throw their friends out of a gutter with arrows? But this is where the comic’s laughter begins.
A tour of Dharatlpuri directly from the gutter.
When the three toads narrowly escape the earthquake and go a bit too deep into the gutter, they crash into a drilling machine. This machine takes them directly to the surface without a ticket. There they meet a guy – Tend. Now, Tend also registers the three toads for the ‘Bhukampa Olympic’ without asking. The three are shocked – we were just trying to save our lives, and now we’ve been turned into wrestlers!
Olympics, but with a twist!
Now comes the real fun part – the quirky competitions of the Bhukampa Olympic.
Archery with style
The first competition is archery. The shooter competes against the ‘Lotus’. The Lotus considers itself as the one who can shoot an arrow at a mosquito’s eye and mocks the shooter. But the shooter does something amazing – he shoots an arrow next to a fish’s eye, which scares the fish, and the stadium erupts with applause. This scene is so funny that you won’t believe you are reading a comic about earthquakes!
Dum-dham-haam – the real ground-shaking game
Next comes the ‘Hatti-Katti’ competition, where two wrestlers clash with the pillars of the Earth – so that the ground shakes above! This is where the real earthquake comes from. King Bhookampa’s entry is no less amusing. His dialogue – ‘This time too, the Bhookampa Cup is ours!’ and then starting some petty competitions, means a total vibe of fun.
Funny characters and their style
In Dharatulpuri, there are such characters that you would think they were picked straight from a tea stall and placed on stage. King Bhukampa – full of pride, but completely phony from the inside. Tend – appears very innocent, but has a fully planned mind. Lotus – an overconfident mosquito-killing archer. Doctor Sampat – when he mistakes stomach noises for earthquakes. The witty dialogues in their conversations make this comic super fun.

Satire as well as message
Now, when we talk about depth, there are a few subtle jabs hidden in the comic. For example – the contractor who wants to create a gutter by bribing before the wedding, so that he can show a ‘gutter house’ as his dowry. In other words, it’s a light-hearted jab at corruption. The joke about having the Olympics behind earthquakes also highlights that regardless of the real reason, people always come up with their own theories. What is presented in the name of science may not necessarily be the truth – perhaps!
The charm of painting and comics
The artwork done by Dilip Chaubey and his team is outstanding. Whether it’s the scared, laughing, or stumbling faces of Tods or the proud demeanor of King Bhookampa – everything comes alive before the eyes. The dialogues in the comic are so entertaining that it often makes one want to stop and read them again.
Result: Fun and explosion, both together!

‘Bhukampa Olympic’ is not just a story, it’s a solid comic treat. It has everything that a great humorous comic should – zesty characters, crazily imaginative plots, stunning artwork, and tons of laughter. This is one of those comics that you won’t read just once, but over and over again.
