Bheriya is an imaginary character, an Indian comic book superhero published by Raj Comics. Dheeraj Verma created Bheriya in December 1993, and in 1997, India’s first digitally colored comic book, Kobi aur Bheriya, was published by Raj Comics.
More than fifty thousand years ago, there was a kingdom named Wolfano, where an advanced breed of wolves lived. They were powerful warriors and moved with great agility. The king of Wolfano, Wolf, was a wolf who liked a human girl, Princess Surviya, from the neighboring human kingdom Konkani. Despite tricking the girl into marriage, Wolf and Surviya eventually separated, and she married another king from the Moraga kingdom. The Konkani king waged war, leading to the destruction of Wolfano’s wolf empire. However, the chief protector and priest, Guru Bhatiki, saved Wolf’s son Kobi and transformed him into a formidable warrior. As Kobi grows up, he faces challenges, and Surviya, angered by his audacity, curses him, turning him into a golden statue.
After the curse is lifted fifty thousand years later, Kobi finds himself in a jungle in Assam, beginning a new life as “Bheriya.” Bheriya, with roaring strength, a curled tail, and shining eyes, becomes a massive figure in his original jungle. He passionately protects his homeland, revered as the deity of the wolf tribe. Despite the ongoing conflicts between Bheriya and Kobi, primarily due to their inherent differences, they both contribute to the jungle’s defense.
Bheriya meets Guru Bhatiki, who teaches him combat skills. Bhatiki divides Bheriya into two parts: “Kobi” (the animal part of Bheriya) and “Bheriya” (the human part of Bheriya). Bhatiki attempts to send Kobi back to Wolfano, but the plan fails. In the meantime, Bheriya, now a hybrid of man and wolf, marries an animal named Jen and becomes incapable of leaving the jungle. Kobi spends ten years in the Assam jungles, protecting its inhabitants from various threats, but occasionally his foolishness puts them in danger. Despite sharing the same body, Bheriya and Kobi continuously quarrel, primarily due to their contrasting natures. Kobi is aggressive and impulsive, while Bheriya is mature and wise. The tribal wolves honor Bheriya as their protector, fearing Kobi’s wrath.
Kobi can extend his tail to any desired length, using it as a powerful weapon or a means of assistance. In times of extreme crisis, he summons the wolf deities, and a terrifying mace appears in his hand, known as the “Help,” signifying assistance. When needed, Kobi can seek the help of the wolf army to defend his territory. These wolves consider him their god and worship him. If wounded, Kobi’s injuries heal automatically due to the ‘Power Belt’ worn around his waist.
Bheriya is a fearsome warrior with combat skills inherited from Kobi. He excels in ancient tactics and warfare, often defeating Kobi in battles. Despite their differences, Bheriya is intelligent, compassionate, and humane, while Kobi is wild, mischievous, aggressive, and easily enraged.
Both Bheriya and Kobi learned advanced combat from Guru Raj Bhatiki with the most sophisticated skills.”
