‘Commando Force’, presented by Raj Comics, is a special issue of Super Commando Dhruv that is not just a comic, but speaks deeply on crime, the human mind, conflict of society and law. Jolly Sinha’s story and Anupam Sinha’s stunning illustrations make this comic one of Dhruv’s most thought-provoking stories. It is not just a story that sticks to action, but it forces the reader to think about what the real hero is, and how easily the fine line between law and justice can be blurred.
‘Green Page’ (editorial) states that this story was based on readers’ “old demand”, and as soon as you read it you understand why. This is a mature and ahead-of-its-time story.
The smoldering Mahanagar
The story begins with a new trouble in Rajnagar: the growing terror of ‘street gangs’. These gangs are no longer just committing small hooliganism, but have become organized and have reached automatic weapons.

This is where the real tension of the story begins. Commissioner Mehra wants to take strict action against these gangs, but Mayor Sanwariya stops him. The Mayor’s argument is also surprising in itself—she compares these street gangs with Dhruv’s ‘commando force’. She says that these gangs are also protecting their localities in their own way. She also tells the Commissioner that if street gangs have to be stopped then first stop the commando force.
Commissioner Mehra finds this attitude of the Mayor strange and suspicious, especially because he remembers that twenty years ago Mayor Sanwariya herself lived in the slum area of Koli Pada, which is the stronghold of these gangs. This is the first thread that points the story towards a major political and criminal nexus.
The rise of the ‘Guardian’
On one hand, Dhruv is trying to understand these gangs (‘King’, ‘Thunder Bolt’, ‘Alligator’ etc.) by making a list of them, while on the other hand, behind the scenes, a mysterious player is making his moves—the Guardian.
The Guardian’s plan is very dangerous and clever. He wants to start a kind of “Mahayagya” in Rajnagar, whose last sacrifice he wants to make is Super Commando Dhruv. He starts this “Mahayagya” by killing Dhannu, the leader of the ‘Thunder Bolt’ gang.

The Guardian blames the ‘Alligator’ gang for Dhannu’s murder, so that a fierce gang war starts between the two. He instigates Ronnie, the new leader of ‘Thunder Bolt’, to take revenge and also lures him with an automatic weapon.
Meanwhile another new character comes into the story—‘Justice’. Justice, along with Dhruv, fights gangs, but his method is completely opposite to Dhruv’s, he is ruthless and does not shy away from taking the law into his own hands.
One mystery, many masks: amazing twists of the story
The real strength of ‘Commando Force’ is its sudden twists. This is not a simple story, but a mystery with many layers, where almost every character is walking around wearing a mask.
First Twist (Justice): In the middle of the story, when Dhruv meets a masked man named ‘Justice’, who reveals himself to be the ‘Guardian’ and expresses his desire to join the Commando Force, it seems that perhaps the real villain has come forward. But this was the Guardian’s very first trap—a move which made the pole move in the wrong direction.

Second and biggest twist (real Guardian): When the real truth comes out it is shocking. The real mastermind of the story turns out to be the one no one expected—Peter, husband of Mayor Saawariya, who lives as an ordinary school teacher in Koli Pada slum. This Peter is the real ‘Guardian’.
The Guardian’s (Peter’s) past is also quite complicated. He was once a notorious gangster ‘Petigrew’ in the city, who later gave up crime. But after his brother died in a gang war, he once again returned to the path of violence and decided that he would eliminate all gangs— in his own strict and merciless ways.
Third twist (actual identity of Justice): What Dhruv was thinking was the Guardian, i.e. ‘Justice’—he was actually the brother of Dhannu, the leader of the slain ‘Thunder Bolt’ gang. It was the real Guardian (Peter) who provoked, misled and used him for his work. Peter puts up a fake Commando Force recruitment advertisement, which traps Dhannu’s brother. He is assured that his brother has been killed by the ‘Alligator’ gang and Dhruv is saving them.
Fourth twist (Mayor Saawariya): Mayor Saawariya, who was repeatedly stopping Commissioner Mehra from taking action, actually knew everything. She herself was an old veteran of the slum area and was using her political power to save her husband—the real Guardian (Peter).
Fifth twist: ‘Chhabili’, an important member of the Guardian team who appears extremely dangerous and violent in every fight, turns out to be ‘Shabana’, a truly brave undercover police officer. She was risking her life to collect evidence of the entire operation.

The whole story looks exactly like a chessboard, where the Guardian (Peter), like a cunning player, moves each piece according to his own plans, be it Dhruv, Justice, Police or his own wife Mayor Saawariya.
Art and Writing: An Unmatched Jugalbandi
Painting (Anupam Sinha): Anupam Sinha’s artwork is the real life of this comic. Every panel seems alive. Action sequences—especially the scene in the parking lot of Raj Metal Store and the final fight in the container yard—look straight Hollywood-level. The green armor of ‘Justice’, the dark costume of ‘Guardian’ and the fighting pose of ‘Chhabili’ are all designed in a very spectacular way. The depiction of emotions is also amazing—be it Dhruv’s calm nature, Justice’s anger or the glow of madness hidden in the eyes of the Guardian (Peter)—everything is amazing with Anupam Sinha’s brush.
Katha (Jolly Sinha): Jolly Sinha has written a story that rises far above the common “good vs evil” stories. It’s a tight and mind-bending crime-thriller. Dialogues are fast, effective and hit in the right place. The pace of the story is so tight that the reader cannot take his eyes off the story even for a moment. The reason and motive (Motivation) of each character is clearly visible, making the story seem even more real.
The litmus test of idealism: Dhruv’s moral crisis
This story is the biggest test of the character of Super Commando Dhruv. This time he is faced not with a supervillain, but with a broken system and an idealist who went in the wrong direction—Guardian.
The Guardian (Peter) believed that the law was weak and that criminals should be responded to in their own language. His aim was also to decriminalize the society, but his method was full of violence and bloodshed.

‘Justice’ , on the other hand, was burning in complete revenge.
Standing between these two is Dhruv—who trusts the law, no matter how bad the situation may be. The most emotional moment of the story comes at the end, when the Guardian (Peter) tells Dhruv that Dhruv also let his Commando Force cadets take up arms and broke the law. For a moment Dhruv himself gets entangled and tells Commissioner Mehra to arrest his own cadets, because for Dhruv the law is always at the top, even if his ideals are broken.
But finally it is revealed that Dhruv had given ‘stun-guns’ to the cadets instead of real bullets. This shows that Dhruv is not only a great warrior, but also a far-thinking planner, who does not cross the limits of the law under any circumstances.
Conclusion
‘Commando Force’ is not just a comic, but a lesson. As stated in the ‘Green Page’, this story “gives the strength to recognize and fight the evils” within you. It shows that even good intentions lead to dangerous consequences if they go the wrong way—as happened with the Guardian.
This story further strengthens Dhruv’s character. Dhruv teaches us that the real hero is not the one who destroys everything by taking revenge, but the one who chooses the right, legal path even in the most difficult circumstances.
‘Commando Force’, full of action, suspense, drama and deep moral message, is a golden chapter in the history of Raj Comics—which every comic lover must read.
