‘Prachanda’ Raj is one of the earliest and select heroes of comics who is believed to possess five great powers within his body. The comic we are talking about today is called—“I Will Become a Villain(Main Banunga Khalnayak)”. This comic is known not only for its fast-paced and thrilling story, but also for its shocking ending, which truly shook the readers of its era.

Story Configuration and Background:

The story begins in a state named ‘Earthquake Country’, where an atmosphere of fear and devastation suddenly starts to form. The most interesting thing about this comic is that the villains are not introduced directly, but through a kind of ‘competition’. Guru ‘Upside-Down’, a cunning occultist and the master of demons, creates a dangerous plan. His aim is to establish the rule of demons over the entire Earth. But to run this kingdom, he needs a demon who will become the supreme leader—a great villain.

The Guru declares that whichever demon proves his strength and cruelty the most will be given the title of ‘Villain’ and will receive a special ‘crown’ filled with divine powers. From here, the story picks up real momentum. One after another, terrible monsters enter this competition, and things become even more frightening.

Introduction and Terror of Villains:

The way the villains are portrayed in this comic is completely cinematic and fear-inducing.

Jubalu is a blue monster who arrives riding two giant bulls. His cruelty can be judged from the fact that he has already killed thousands of innocent people. His goal is clear—to become the greatest villain of all time.

Halkara possesses a very large ‘HAL’-like weapon, with which he can tear the ground apart and break massive doors with a single blow.

Kachot is a demon whose body is as hard as a turtle’s shell. No weapon has any effect on him, which makes him even more dangerous.

All these monsters strike the borders of the country like earthquakes. King Jekhtala begins to feel completely helpless and struggles to save his kingdom. In such circumstances, the hero ‘Prachanda’ makes an explosive entry into the story.

Prachanda’s Arrival and Struggle:

Prachanda is known for his immense strength and sense of justice, and he steps forward to stop this devastation. The middle part of the comic depicts intense battles between Prachanda and the demons. In every fight, Prachanda has to use not only his strength but also his intellect.

The battle between Prachanda and Halkara is especially exciting. Halkara tries to overpower Prachanda with his brute strength, but Prachanda outwits him with his agility and fighting skills. Similarly, even a seemingly invincible demon like Kachot ultimately cannot stand against Prachanda, and his defeat fills the readers with enthusiasm.

Twist and Character of Chakori in the Story:

The real strength of this story lies in the mystery hidden between its characters. On his journey, Prachanda meets a beautiful maiden named ‘Komlangi’, who reveals herself to be the princess of an invisible city. She says that the demons have taken away her divine crown. Prachanda, as expected from a true hero, promises to help her.

But this is where the author makes a tremendous move in the story. An incident related to Maharishi ‘Shapde’ is revealed, in which he gives the form of a woman to a stone idol—and this woman is Chakori. In reality, Komlangi is not a suffering princess; rather, Chakori is deceiving Prachanda by disguising herself. She is a disciple of Guru Ult-Pulat, and her real aim is to lead Prachanda to that divine crown so that the plan of the demons can be fulfilled.

Climax and Psychological Shifts:

The most impactful part of the story comes when Prachanda finally reaches the base of Guru Ult-Tupka. He reaches the magical crown after overcoming every obstacle in his path. At this point, readers are confident that Prachanda will either return the crown to the princess or destroy it and end the evil.

But this is where the story suddenly takes a terrifying turn. The crown is actually a ‘symbol of evil’. Falling for Chakori’s sweet words and mesmerized by the magical glow of the crown, Prachanda places it upon his head. At that moment, the hero within him seems to disappear, and a new ‘villain’ is born.

The sparkle that appears in Prachanda’s eyes in the final pages, and the cruel smile that spreads across his face, is difficult for any true hero to even imagine. He screams loudly—“I’m the villain!” Chakori executes her deception perfectly and turns a great hero into the greatest villain.

Art and Portraiture (Artwork):

The artwork of Pratap Mullick is the true strength of this comic. The physical appearance of the characters he creates—especially Prachanda’s bulging muscles and the terrifying faces of the demons—brings the story to life. Whether it is Jubalu’s bulls charging forward or Halkara’s massive plough spinning, the action and speed in every frame feel vivid and powerful.

The use of colors is also perfectly suited to the period. Dark and bright colors used for the villains make them appear even scarier and more impressive. The dialogue lettering style is very clear, which keeps readers connected to the story and prevents any distraction.

Critical Analysis:

“I Will Be the Villain” is not just a simple action comic; it also deeply explores the effects of power and greed. It delivers a clear message that even a great person, if trapped by the wrong influence and wrong temptations—such as the greed symbolized by the crown—is destined to fall.

Character Illustration:

Master Upside-Down comes across as a classic ‘pulp fiction’ villain—cunning, mysterious, and dangerous. In contrast, the character of Chakori teaches us that not everything that shines is trustworthy. Prachanda’s fall creates sadness and surprise in the minds of the readers simultaneously.

Speed:

The pace of the story is very fast. Within just 31 pages, the author beautifully captures several intense battles, a false love story, and a major revelation.

Significance of the Title:

At the beginning, it seems that perhaps one of Jubalu or Halkara will say—“I will become the villain”, but at the end of the story, it turns out to be a brilliant masterstroke by the writer to have this line spoken by the hero himself.

Conclusion:

This creation of Raj Comics feels as exciting today as it did in its time. The comic helps us understand that evil does not exist only in external demons, but can also seep into us in the form of a ‘crown’, symbolizing ego and power.

If you are fond of classic Indian comics and want to read a story that ends with a loud cliffhanger instead of the traditional “happy ending”, then “I Will Be the Villain” must be part of your collection. This comic not only entertains but also highlights the extremely thin line between hero and villain, which often fades due to the greed for power.
