The arrival of ‘Doga’ in the world of Raj Comics was no less than a blast. While in its previous part, ‘Yeh Hai Doga’, we saw the childhood struggles of Suraj, the training received from ‘uncles’ like his parents, and the fire of vengeance burning within him, its next and decisive part, ‘Main Hoon Doga’, turns that fire into a raging flame.

This comic is not just a story, but the birth of a new thinking. The words of Tarun Kumar Wahi and the vivid illustrations of Manu gave Doga the ‘vigilante’ look in this part, which made him the darkest and most dangerous hero of Indian comics. Let us understand, in this detailed review of 1200 words, how ‘Main Hoon Doga’ created a stir in the world of crime.

“Yes, I am a dog”: Doga’s unique and dark ideology

On the very first page of the comic, a very effective dialogue of Doga appears— “Yes, I am a dog! Loyalty is dead among humans today. That’s why I took this form.” This sentence becomes the complete foundation of Doga’s character. Fed up with the selfish world of humans, he makes dog loyalty his religion. Suraj believes that criminals only understand the language of fear, and Doga emerges as that fear.

In this part, Doga’s costume also appears in its complete form. Red gloves, red underpants, a blue belt, and that creepy bulldog-like mask— all combine to create a personality that instills the fear of death in the hearts of criminals. This look of Doga is not just different, but also reflects his mindset and way of thinking. He is not a dazzling superhero, but a hunter working in the dark.

Inspector Cheetah: The blurred line between law and justice

Another important character enters in ‘Main Hoon Doga’— Inspector Cheetah. Cheetah is an honest and sharp-tongued police officer who has full faith in the law. He considers Doga a criminal, as Doga had stolen weapons from the police station and was punishing criminals before the law could. Here, the author has shown a very interesting confrontation. On one side is Doga, who wants to eliminate criminals, and on the other side is Cheetah, who wants to work within the ambit of the law. This conflict makes the story more exciting.

Inspector Cheetah’s dialogue— “There are as many reasons behind me having this name as there are reasons behind a cheetah being a cheetah”— shows his confidence and fast-paced nature. He relentlessly chases Doga, but gradually he also begins to realize that Doga is doing what the police have not been able to do for a long time. This thought adds depth to the story.

‘Killota’ and ‘Black Boys’: The challenge of a dreaded villain

The main villain of this comic is ‘Killota’, who owns ‘Killer’s Gym’. Killota is not just an ordinary criminal, but a trained and extremely powerful fighter. He has transformed the wrestlers of his gym into a gang named ‘Black Boys’, who commit bank robberies and murders in the city. Killota’s ego and strength become the biggest challenge for Suraj, i.e., Doga. He plans to attack Ginger Chacha’s hospital again. The attack is not just a crime, but an attempt to personally provoke Doga.

Killota’s character is shown as a domineering and cruel human being who misuses his power. This is why when Doga confronts him, it is no longer just a hero-villain fight, but a head-on collision.

Ultra-sonic whistle and ‘Rockat’: Doga’s loyal army

The most different and special thing about Doga is his association with dogs. This section shows that Suraj uses an ‘ultra-sonic’ whistle, whose sound can only be heard by dogs. The city’s stray dogs become Doga’s spies and soldiers. His most loyal dog, ‘Rockat’, smells the scent of criminals and leads Doga to their hideouts. It feels exciting to see how Doga has created a network through dogs that no modern technology can compete with.

Gathering information through dogs, hiding weapons, and keeping an eye on criminals — all these things make Doga different from other superheroes. This is why Doga’s method always seems more real and dangerous.

Attack on ‘Killer’s Gym’: A Great Battle

The climax of the story begins when Doga breaks into ‘Killer’s Gym’ and wreaks havoc. Here, Manu’s artwork is seen at its peak. The sound of bullets, breaking glass, and flying wrestlers— tremendous action is visible in every panel. Doga stands in front of Killota and challenges him— “I will break every brick, every glass, and all your heads in this gym!” This dialogue perfectly shows Doga’s anger and his vengeance.

Here, Doga not only uses weapons, but also turns his body into a weapon. His every move, every strike, and every attack show that Suraj has now completely become Doga.

Doga vs Killota: The Battle of Mind and Strength

In the final battle, Doga realizes that Killota is not just a wrestler, but also a master of martial arts. There comes a time when Killota starts to overpower Doga. He slams Doga repeatedly and leaves him half-dead.

This is where we remember the lessons given by Doga’s gurus. Doga understands that Killota cannot be defeated by strength alone. He uses the brain trick taught by ‘Ginger Uncle’.

Doga uses a special net made of nylon ropes, in which Killota’s hands and legs get entangled. This fight clearly shows that Doga is not just a muscular hero, but also a wise strategist. He places the right moves at the right time, and that is what makes him different from the rest of the heroes.

Inspector Cheetah’s Change of Heart: The Defeat of the Law or the Victory of Justice?

When Doga is about to eliminate Killota, Inspector Cheetah reaches there. The law requires Cheetah to arrest Doga, but he sees that Doga has eliminated the gang that the police have not been able to catch for years. Cheetah remains silent for a few moments. There is law and justice before him. In the end, he offers Doga a chance to escape. It becomes one of the most memorable moments of Indian comics. Cheetah says— “You not only saved my life, but also freed the city from these wolves. Now you get out of here.”

This scene shows that sometimes justice stands above the law. This decision of Cheetah further strengthens his character and establishes Doga as an essential ‘Vigilante’.

Feeling of the Four Uncles: “Suraj is Doga”

A very emotional scene is seen at the end of the comic. Injured and blood-soaked, Suraj returns to ‘Lion Gym’ and starts weightlifting.

His four uncles— Ginger, Turmeric, Coriander, and Pepper— are watching him carefully.

Seeing his fighting style, wounds on his body, and the glare in his eyes, they understand that the ‘Doga’ being discussed all over Mumbai is none other than their own Suraj.

They look at each other and say— “Suraj is Doga!”

This moment gives emotional height to the story. The four uncles feel proud of their disciple. They understand that their child is now ready to fight against injustice.

Technical Analysis of Writing and Drawing (Technical Review)

Tarun Kumar Wahi’s writing makes Doga a tough and straightforward hero. The pace of the story remains fast, and one does not feel bored anywhere. There is bitterness and strictness in his dialogues, which perfectly reflect Doga’s dark background and his vengeance. Manu’s artwork has a distinct identity in the comics of the 90s. He has shown every muscle in the body in detail, making Doga seem like a strong and real fighter.

The feeling of movement in the action scenes is fantastic. Energy is visible in every panel of the fight. Sanjay Gupta’s editing also strengthens the story. By dividing the story into two parts, he maintained suspense and made Doga’s origin story memorable. This is the reason why these comics are still considered cult classics.

Why is ‘Main Hoon Doga’ a Masterpiece?

Doga being a realistic superhero brings him closer to readers. He has no magical powers. He fights crime with the help of his hard work, weapons, and dogs. This comic also gives a social message. System failure and lack of justice force a common man to take the law into his own hands. The dog mask and dog network were new and unique concepts for that time.

‘Yeh Hai Doga’ and ‘Main Hoon Doga’ together present a strong origin story. This story makes Doga the most unique and dark superhero of Indian comics.

Conclusion: Doga—Mumbai’s Protector, the End for Criminals

The ‘Main Hoon Doga’ comic is the end of a journey and the beginning of a new era. It completes the process of Suraj becoming Doga. This story tells us that justice is not always served in court. Sometimes it has to be achieved in dark streets.

If you are a fan of Raj Comics or interested in superhero stories, then this origin series of Doga must be in your collection. This comic still feels as impressive today as it did 25 years ago. Doga proves he is Raj Comics’ ‘Punisher’— silent, dangerous, and extremely loyal.
