Doctor Kunal had a special love for animals. His dream was to create a unique country for animals, where different species could live peacefully, away from the threats of the world. On Angara Island, Dr. Kunal used his surgical skills to teach animals to communicate. He instilled values of unity, brotherhood, and civilization, establishing Angara as a nation for animals.
However, the American forces attacked Angara to set up their military base. Only six animals managed to escape the island with Kunal. Dr. Kunal performed a groundbreaking operation, combining the eyes of an eagle, the cunning mind of a fox, the courage of a lion, the heart of an elephant, and the skin of a rhinoceros to create a superhuman named ‘Commando Angara.’
Commando Angara’s first mission was to liberate his homeland, Angara, from the clutches of the American forces. With the help of a giant whale known as Angara Whale Queen and a massive eagle named Jatayu, Angara could reach any place swiftly.
Parshuram Sharma penned Angara’s story, having also written stories for superheroes like Nagaraj. Angara was the most successful superhero in Tulsi Comics. The story, written between 1980 and 1990, reflects the strained relations between India and America during that era, portraying Angara fighting against American soldiers.
Angara faced various enemies, but his closest adversaries were Suzooki and Balara’s princess. When Tulsi Comics ceased production, Angara’s comics also stopped. However, thanks to the efforts of Comics India and Raj Comics, old Angara comics are being reprinted and made available online for readers.
Recently, Tulsi Comics reintroduced Angara in a crossover with Nagaraj, and who knows, we might witness Angara once again standing shoulder to shoulder with a Raj Comics superhero, bravely facing adversaries.
