Many heroes were born in the vast and exciting universe of Raj Comics, but only a few gave goosebumps to readers with their very first glimpse. ‘Bhediya’ is a character in this category who started a new era in the world of Indian comics. The comic this review is about is not an ordinary issue; rather, it is the first comic of Bhediya, from where the journey of this timeless megastar began. This first work, adorned with the brilliant writing of Parshuram Sharma and the finest artwork of Dheeraj Verma, takes us to the untouched and mysterious forests of Assam, where folktales do not remain just stories but emerge as a scary truth.

The arrival of Bhediya in the history of Raj Comics was an event that introduced readers to a completely different form of superhero. Before this, people had seen heroes like Nagraj or Dhruv, who lived in cities and fought evil, but this first comic of Bhediya takes us straight into the lap of nature. The significance of this issue also increases because no human form of Bhediya was shown here; instead, it was presented as a divine and mysterious force. This first comic made it clear that this hero is not just a criminal catcher, but a fierce god protecting his roots, his clan, and the sanctity of his land. The way Bhediya’s awe and its unstoppable power were shown in these introductory pages made it a cult classic overnight.

A dangerous spark of greed arose from the Chicago ring

The beginning of the story takes us away from India to the city of Chicago in America. There is a professional fighter named Lara in the wrestling fields here, whose strength has no match. Lara’s strong physique and fighting technique make her an invincible warrior, but this same strength has also created great ego in her. When she defeats an opponent as strong as Jackie in the ring, she has no idea that this physical strength of hers is soon going to face a challenge that cannot be won with punches. Meanwhile, a message from the Black Child reaches her, who lures her with a million dollars. The proposal was not just for Lara but was part of a larger conspiracy to gather experts from around the world who valued money more than their conscience.

A group of seven hunters and an impossible-looking mission

When Lara reaches Guwahati, the capital of Assam, she learns that the Black Child has invited not only her but seven masters from different fields. These included the dangerous gunman Grandi from South America, Nagareddy, who controls ferocious animals, Shahryar Khan, an expert in ancient languages and history, Tima, an expert in technology, and Jogo, who easily crosses inaccessible mountains. The Black Child tells all of them about a statue owned by the Baganda clan. This statue is about fifty thousand years old and is made of pure gold or some precious metal, which is worth billions in the international market. The Black Child’s plan was clear—he wanted to use his technology and the experience of these experts to rob the faith of a tribe that considered the ‘wolf’ their protector.

The dreadful forests and soul-shaking rituals of the Baganda clan

As the story progresses, readers reach those inaccessible forests of Assam where even sunlight barely reaches the ground. The Baganda clan was not an ordinary tribe; they were cannibals, and their entire culture revolved around that ancient Bhediya statue. Here, Parshuram Sharma has shown the fear and unwavering faith of the tribal society very effectively. The clan exorcist and their chieftain ‘Gora’ were so fanatical about their traditions that they did not allow any outsider to enter.

Lara and her team cleverly disguise themselves as clan members and infiltrate their traditions. Here, Lara’s competition with tribal wrestlers and winning their trust creates a different thrill in the story. The reader feels for a moment that perhaps these seven hunters will succeed in their mission, but nature had decided something else for them.

On the night of the full moon, the sacrifice of an innocent child and the arrogance of science

The biggest twist of the story comes when, on the full moon night, the clan prepares to sacrifice a beautiful girl named ‘Jeena’. The Baganda clan believed that this sacrifice would please their god, i.e., Bhediya. Taking advantage of this chaos and noise, the Black Child’s team used its modern technology. While the clan still lived in primitive thinking, these hunters attacked from the sky with balloons and helicopters. They chained the heavy statue and lifted it into the air. The clan members were shocked to see that their deity, whom they had been worshipping for years, was flying in the air. Here, modern science conquered ancient faith for a moment, but this victory was going to prove very short-lived.

That terrible ancient vengeance sleeping in the waves of Brahmaputra

As the helicopter passes over the Brahmaputra River carrying the idol, the story takes a supernatural turn. Suddenly, the weight of that stone statue starts increasing so much that the helicopter engines begin to fail. Here it is shown that when humans cross their limits, nature and ancient forces strike their own balance. The helicopter is devastated after falling into the river’s rapids, and the team members scatter to save their lives. In the midst of this devastation, the blood of the clan girl Jeena inadvertently touches the lips of that idol. This is the moment when a mythical curse becomes true.

That stone statue gradually begins to turn into a living creature made of flesh and blood—a creature that is neither completely human nor completely animal.

The timeless form of Bhediya comes alive with the artwork of Dheeraj Verma

A huge credit for the success of this comic goes to the brilliant artwork of Dheeraj Verma. The way he has created Bhediya’s form creates direct fear in the minds of readers. Long, fire-like red hair, a copper-glowing body, and a yellow glow in the eyes that intensifies as soon as the prey is seen—this form of Bhediya makes him completely different from the rest of the heroes of Raj Comics. The detail shown by Dheeraj Verma in muscle strain and fight scenes was at a new level for Indian comics at that time.

Especially when Bhediya comes alive with his first roar, that panel becomes the most powerful scene in the entire comic. The deep shadows of the forest and the expressions of fear on the faces of the characters are skillfully displayed, drawing readers into the story and making every page more exciting.

Sacrifice of human experts offered on the altar of greed

The final part of the comic becomes a storm of vengeance in which no one is left safe. Bhediya does not judge by rules like a superhero; instead, he kills directly like a protector. He finds the experts who disturbed his peace one by one. Lara, who boasted of her strength, appears extremely weak in front of Bhediya. Gunman Grandi’s bullets prove ineffective on that divine body, and Nagareddy’s animals recognize their true master and bow before him.

This part gives a clear message that greed makes a person blind, and they forget that there are some powers that cannot be bought or defeated. The end of the Black Child and his team was not only their death, but also the end of their ego and greed.

A wonderful philosophical confluence of nature, tradition, and vengeance

From a review perspective, this comic not only provides entertainment but also raises many deep questions. This story shows how the outside world and modern civilization often harm ancient cultures and natural heritage in the name of ‘development’ and ‘wealth’. Bhediya is not just a character here but emerges as the protector of the collective consciousness of forests and tribes.

The traditions of the Baganda clan may seem scary or backward to modern society, but for them, they were part of their identity and life. When those traditions were plundered for money, vengeance was bound to be born. The character of Bhediya makes it clear that for some he is God, while for others he is Yamraj in person.

An unforgettable and immortal legacy of Indian comics history

In the end, it would be absolutely right to say that this issue of Bhediya is one of those rare gems of Indian comics that offers something new every time it is read. The strong story of Parshuram Sharma and the impressive artwork of Dheeraj Verma together gave birth to a hero who kept the identity of Raj Comics strong for decades to come. This comic teaches us that real heroism lies not just in strength, but in protecting our roots and our land.

Even today, when the pages of this comic are turned, the rustle of the forests of Assam and the scary roar of Bhediya begin to be heard. This roar seems to warn that tampering with the secrets of nature always has a dreadful outcome. This is why this comic becomes essential for every reader who wants to understand the depth of Indian superheroes and their true roots.
