The brutal realm of Khunkhara, inhabited by half-beast and half-demon creatures, was merciless and ruthless. Playing with humans, they would strike them down and feast on their flesh. Khunkhara ruled this land, consuming human blood like water and demolishing mountains and palaces with its powerful horns. When another demon kingdom, Vajra, led by King Vajra, challenged Khunkhara, the royal guru of Khunkhara suggested seeking a great power to defend their kingdom. Despite warnings, Khunkhara sought the aid of Mahan Mankar, the deity of demons, asking for immense power.
However, the deity cautioned Khunkhara about the consequences of misuse, but driven by greed, Khunkhara disregarded the warning. Eventually, Khunkhara faced defeat against Vajra, and the demon king Pralaya, aided by Mankot, unleashed havoc upon the Earth. Troubled by these events, rulers and sages sought help from Taptamukhi, who revealed the solution – Agnimanthan, a ritual involving seven divine powers.
- Ajar Amar: A stone-bodied being impervious to any weapon.
- Gurughantala: Can assume any form.
- Bijlika: Can strike anyone with lightning and turn them into ashes.
- Tisra Ankha: An invisible eye that can see the unseen.
- Shakala: Possesses the power of a hawk.
- Biloura: A powerful cat.
- Judo Ka: Skilled in combat.
The ritual commenced, revealing these powers, and finally, Gojo, summoned by the chanting, entered each power, ending the demonic threat.
Gojo first eliminated all the spider demons from Makora Planet and defeated their king, Mankot, becoming Gojo’s loyal mount. Gojo remained faithful to him, to the extent that when Makora Planet sent his daughter Gojo to kill him, Gojo sacrificed his own daughter to protect Gojo. With the help of his seven powers, Gojo vanquished Khunkhara, bringing peace to Earth for a while.
Gojo was created by Tarun Kumar Wahi, illustrated by Chando, and initially published by Raj Comics. While its publication eventually ceased, there are ongoing efforts to reintroduce it to readers by reprinting some old comics. Gojo’s powers resemble those possessed by Mr. India in the Tulsi Comics series, and similar powers are found in the bodies of characters in Tausi Comics. Although Gojo loses three of his powers for a brief period, he regains them with the intervention of Taptamukhi.
