In the expansive and exciting universe of Raj Comics, ‘Tantrata’ is a name that not only creates fear but also symbolizes the deep darkness where Tantra Vidya and Science come together in a dangerous union. The character of Tantrata is fully revealed through Raj Comics’ timeless trilogy—’Agraj’, ‘Nagraj Ka Kahar’, and ‘Tandav’.

He is not an ordinary criminal, but the emperor of the world of souls and a great scholar of ancient Tantra Vidya. His entire existence rests on selfishness, cunning, and the never-ending desire to become immortal.

Vedacharya’s Family Curse: How Did the Enmity Begin?

The history of Tantrata is a story of a deep connection with the great magician Vedacharya that later turned into a terrible enmity. He was such a great expert in Tantra Vidya that even Vedacharya himself respected his abilities.

Made Relationships Pawns

• Family alliance: He used the marriage of Vedacharya‘s son Shiladitya and his daughter Chandralanka as a pawn.

• Chasing hidden secrets: His real purpose was to uncover the secret magical knowledge of Vedacharya, which had been kept hidden for the safety of the world.

• Use of innocents: Chandralanka and Shiladitya had two children—Agraj and Bharti. They were Tantrata’s grandchildren, but to him they were merely tools to achieve immortality.

Eye on His Grandson’s Body: The Dreadful Desire for Immortality

As Tantrata’s body grew older and weaker, he devised a plan to defeat death that was devoid of any human emotion.

Conspiracy to seize Agraj’s body: He knew that, being a descendant of Vedacharya, Agraj’s body was filled with divine energy and magical power. Tantrata believed that if he transferred his soul into Agraj’s young and powerful body, he would not only become young again, but his tantric powers would also increase manifold. To achieve this, he conspired to murder Agraj and take control of his body.

The ‘Second Sun’ in the Sky and the Impenetrable Army of Souls

Tantrata’s powers were not limited to mantras; he also possessed the ability to challenge the laws of nature.

• Control over ghosts: His greatest power was his complete control over restless and wandering spirits. He could raise an army of thousands of souls, who were not affected by the physical attacks or poison of Nagraj.

• Second artificial sun: In the ‘Tandav’ comic, he created an artificial ‘second sun’ in the sky with his tantric powers to make all of humanity his slave by tormenting them with extreme heat and thirst.

• Talisman’s betrayal: He manipulated Nagraj’s old partner, ‘Talisman’, and lured Nagraj into dangerous magical traps where time and direction were unknown.

‘Tantra-Garh’: A Magical Fort Beating Like a Human Body

‘Tantra-Garh’, the abode of Tantrata, was proof of his unique and scientific thinking. He had built a magical fort that was completely based on the internal structure of a living human body:

  1. Throbbing Walls: The walls of this fort throbbed, and its corridors were like human arteries.
  2. Biological Fort: When Nagraj entered this fort, he had to pass through structures resembling lungs and a heart.
  3. Invincible Citadel: This demonstrated Tantrata’s mastery, as he combined biology and Tantra Vidya in such a way that the fort itself became a living being.

Captured in the Painting: The Dramatic Collapse of Ego

Tantrata was an extremely clever strategist. He even sacrificed his own daughter, Chandralanka, for his ambitions because he believed that emotions and relationships were only for the weak. But this very ego ultimately became the reason for his downfall.

Final War and Nagraj’s Strategy:

• Counter-strategy: When Tantrata was about to enter Agraj’s body, Nagraj destroyed his tantric structure with the special magical instruments given by Vedacharya and his own willpower.

• Revolt of Agraj’s soul: Agraj’s soul also bravely fought against Tantrata’s dark shadow with the strength of its purity.

• Eternal imprisonment: Nagraj’s poison blast and Vedacharya’s magical key trapped Tantrata’s existence within the very illusion he had created. He was locked forever inside a magical painting.

His dream of becoming immortal was fulfilled, but not as a king—rather, as a prisoner trapped within a frame.

Final Thoughts: An Immortal Villain of Magical Realism

The character of Tantrata teaches us that the misuse of power ultimately leads to destruction. Tantrata’s slogan, “Jai Kapalike,” still gives goosebumps to Raj Comics readers and comic lovers alike. He was one of the few enemies of Nagraj whom the great hero could defeat only by thinking beyond his physical strength. In the end, he tried to challenge the gods, but as always, righteousness and justice prevailed.
